New Location, New Life Story?

So many things have changed over the past few months. We moved 1200 miles to a new town, I started a new job, and my husband came off of active duty and is now regular National Guard. We anticipated issues with the children, but we have been pleasantly surprised at how well they have done. Kevin has transitioned beautifully into his new classroom and his new environment and is actually doing better than before. Rapunzel has made new friends and seems to be fitting in quite nicely. Ben seems to have re-written his identity. In Louisiana, Ben was sometimes teased about being "too smart." Several of his peers made him feel bad about doing so well academically with little to no effort. Is it any surprise that he made a few changes for his new school? He went from being called Benjamin to just Ben and he refuses to wear button up shirts and opts for graphic tees instead. I'll admit it is weird hearing his teacher call him Ben, but we are adapting. And he is making friends, which is a big deal with him being so close to starting middle school.
Parents on the other hand are not adapting so well. The Daddy has never lived so far away from his family. He is also still looking for a job here, meaning that I am the only source of income at the moment. That is a huge change for both of us, and not one we are adapting to well. Change is good, but it is also really hard. I guess we need to take a lesson from the children and learn to be a little more fluid. :)
